Olympic gold medallist Sir Chris Hoy has revealed that he turned down the chance to appear on this year's Strictly Come Dancing.

Cyclist Hoy was one among a host of Olympians that shot to the limelight following Great Britain's success at the London 2012 Games but the 36-year-old has insisted that he was not lured to this year's reality shows.

"I did get approached to do Strictly Come Dancing and have been contacted before," Hoy told the London Evening Standard. "I can see the appeal but it's just not my cup of tea."

Hoy's fellow Olympic cyclist Victoria Pendleton is currently taking part in the BBC One series along with gymnast Louis Smith.
