NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal officially becomes a reserve police officer for the Doral Police Department in South Florida.

Former NBA star Shaquille O'Neal has become a reserve police officer for the Doral Police Department in South Florida.

The 42-year-old, who played for LA Lakers and Miami Heat during his career, was sworn in by Doral Police Chief Donald De Lucca at a ceremony on Tuesday.

According to the Daily Mail, the former MVP will cover his own insurance costs and will not earn a salary from the force.

The mayor of Doral Luigi Borra, the city manager, city attorney and city council all attended the ceremony.
