Paralympic champion Oscar Pistorius will arrive at a South African court today to stand trial for the alleged murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.
The 27-year-old, who became the first athlete to compete in both the Olympic and Paralympic Games in London 2012, was charged with murder after shooting his girlfriend at his home in Pretoria on Valentine's Day last year.
The double amputee has been accused of premeditated murder, but Pistorius has maintained that he mistook the South African model for an intruder when shots were fired through a bathroom door in his home.
Trials in South Africa do not have a jury, so Pistorius's fate will be decided by a judge and two assistants.
