Olympic bronze and silver medallist Louis Smith says that training for Strictly Come Dancing is tougher than it was to prepare for the London 2012 Games.

British gymnast Louis Smith has admitted that he is finding it harder to train for Strictly Come Dancing than he did to prepare for the Olympic Games.

The 23-year-old is currently competing in the BBC One reality show with professional dance partner Flavia Cacace.

"I find training for 'Strictly' is harder than training for the Olympic Games," Smith said at the Cosmopolitan Ultimate Women of the Year awards.

"Being a gymnast might not be an advantage, but it allows me to add in a few extra bits to the routine that perhaps normal people can't do."

Smith won a bronze and silver medal at the London Games in the summer.
