The sports chief of Swedish football club Dalkurd FF has revealed that their players escaped death by deciding against booking on Germanwings Flight 4U9525, which crashed on Tuesday.
The aircraft, which was flying from Barcelona to Duesseldorf, plunged into the French Alps, killing all 150 people on board.
Dalkurd FF's Adil Kizil has revealed that members of the team flew on three of four Lufthansa subsidiary flights on Tuesday, after a late decision was made to pull some off the players off the flight that eventually crashed.
"We were supposed to have been on that flight," Kizil told Aftonbladet. "We checked in with all of the passengers. It's surreal.
"When we got to the airport in Barcelona there were four flights leaving that time, flying North over the Alps. Four flights and we had players on three of them. Let's just say we were very lucky."
Reports have claimed that the plane descended for eight minutes before it hit the ground.
