The mother of under-fire Paris Saint-Germain centre-back David Luiz has defended her son's display in Wednesday's 3-1 Champions League defeat to Barcelona.
Luiz was nutmegged by Luis Suarez in the build-up to both of the Uruguyan's goals as the Catalans put one foot in the semi-finals with a comfortable win at Parc des Princes.
Sky Sports pundit Glenn Hoddle savaged the Brazilian's display, likening him to an "eight-year-old", but it seems that the 27-year-old has retained the affections and belief of his mum.
"We are proud of you, David Luiz," Regina Celia wrote on Instagram. "I'll always have you as a son, keep your head up. God knows everything! Jesus fights for us, who are we to judge!
"I will always love you, in good games and much more when things are not going so well."
PSG coach Laurent Blanc later revealed that Luiz - who replaced the injured Thiago Silva after 21 minutes - was not 100% fit.
