Former Reading and Cardiff City striker Robin Friday is to be portrayed in a new film of his life by Pirates of the Caribbean and Hunger Games actor Sam Claflin.
The Acton-born forward played 121 games for the Royals between 1974 and 1976 before moving to the Welsh capital, making just 21 league appearances for the Bluebirds prior to retiring aged 25.
The biopic, which is set to begin filming in September, is to be directed by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Henry Alex Rubin and is based on a book by Paolo Hewitt and ex-Oasis bass player Paul McGuigan.
Friday died aged just 38 in 1990 after years of drug and alcohol abuse.
