France to deport 20 Russian fans following violent clashes at Euro 2016

French officials confirm that 20 Russian men will be deported for their involvement in "skirmishes" in Marseille during Euro 2016.

French officials have announced that 20 male Russian football fans will be deported following their involvement in the violent scenes that have marred Euro 2016.

During the build-up to the 1-1 draw between England and Russia in Marseille, both sets of fans clashed in the city.

There was also trouble inside the Stade Velodrome on the final whistle when Russia fans charged at England supporters.

In response to the violence in the stadium, UEFA confirmed that Russia's team will be kicked out of the tournament if similar scenes occur.

Stephane Bouillon, prefect for the region, has confirmed that 20 Russian men will be deported on suspicion of "participation in skirmishes linked to the England-Russia game on June 11 in Marseille," according to The AP.

The men deported were detained within a group of 43 Russian fans on Tuesday.
