Oscar Pistorius to remain in jail after decision to grant parole delayed again

Paralympic champion Oscar Pistorius remains in a South African prison after a decision to grant parole was delayed again.

Six-time Paralympic champion Oscar Pistorius has been denied early release from prison after a decision to grant parole was delayed for a second time.

The 28-year-old has been attempting to be transferred to house arrest after serving 11 months of his five-year sentence behind bars.

Pistorius was found guilty of culpable homicide (manslaughter) after he shot dead his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp at his home in Pretoria during the early hours of Valentine's Day in 2013.

The double amputee's lawyer Brian Webber has told AFP that a decision regarding early release has been delayed once again as the appeal has been referred back to the parole board.

Pistorius was expected to transferred to house arrest in August, but Justice Minister Michael Masutha prevented the board from granting his release from prison in South Africa.

The paralympian avoided a murder conviction after he claimed that he mistook Steenkamp for an intruder when he fired four gunshots through a toilet door in his home.
