Paul Merson reignites Andros Townsend feud

Paul Merson continues his spat with Andros Townsend by mocking the Tottenham Hotspur winger's brief appearance as a substitute against Burnley.

Former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson has attempted to once again goad Tottenham Hotspur winger Andros Townsend on social networking site Twitter.

The pair were embroiled in a spat recently when Townsend took exception to comments made by now-pundit Merson, who stated that the 23-year-old should not have be included in Roy Hodgson's latest England squad.

Having earned England a 1-1 draw in Italy last Tuesday, Townsend tweeted: "Not bad for a player that should be 'nowhere near the squad', ay Paul Merson?"

In response, Merson told the seven-capped midfielder that he should "win some medals first before you call it on".

That appeared to have ended the feud, but, having seen Townsend come on as a substitute for just the last seven minutes of Tottenham's 1-1 draw away at Burnley this afternoon, Merson tweeted:

As yet, there has been no reply from Townsend.
