Adidas have terminated their boot sponsorship deal with Adam Johnson after the Sunderland winger pleaded guilty to two child sex charges at Bradford Crown Court earlier this week.
Johnson, 28, admitted one count of sexual activity with a child and one charge of grooming but denied two further charges of sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl.
Adidas said today that they will no longer provide the Englishman with his boots.
"Adidas can confirm that it has terminated its contract with footballer Adam Johnson with immediate effect," The Times quotes the sportswear giant as saying in a statement.
"This follows his guilty pleas entered earlier this week."
Johnson's trial, which is expected to last two weeks, begins on Friday and he will not be part of Sunderland's squad for the visit of Manchester United on Saturday.
