Erik Fisher hails Sochi Games' opening ceremony

Team USA alpine skier Erik Fisher says that the Sochi Games' opening ceremony was "the best show" he has ever seen.

American alpine ski racer Erik Fisher has described the opening ceremony of the 2014 Sochi Games as "the best show" he has ever seen.

The ceremony was held on Friday inside the Fisht Olympic Stadium, where 40,000 people watched athletes from 87 nations march and officially kick off the event.

"That was very impressive – the best show I've ever seen," he said. "The Olympic spirit is certainly alive in Sochi."

This year's Winter Olympics are the most expensive in history, coming at a cost of £30bn.
