Daryl Powell: Castleford Tigers will "learn a lot of lessons"

Castleford Tigers coach Daryl Powell says that his side will "learn a lot of lessons" after coming from behind to beat Hull FC on Sunday.

Castleford Tigers coach Daryl Powell believes that his side will "learn a lot of lessons" after coming from behind to beat Hull FC on Sunday.

The Tigers moved joint top of the Super League with a 19-16 victory, with Frankie Mariano scoring a 77th-minute try for the hosts to preserve their unbeaten record thus far.

Powell claims that it was among the worst performances of the season from his team, but lauded the character necessary to grind out the win.

"I don't think we were great today, to be honest," he told Sky Sports News. "It was probably our worst performance of the season.

"I thought Hull played well and put us under pressure. But we found a way to win and the character of the side is obviously fantastic.

"We'll learn a lot of lessons from it as well, which I think is great for us. Hull set up to defend us in a certain way and we didn't handle it real well, so if it happens to us again we'll hopefully learn the lesson."

Powell's troops sit alongside St Helens at the summit of the division.
