Wakefield coach John Kear will leave the Super League side at the end of the season, the club has announced.
The Wildcats have opted not to renew the 56-year-old's contract, although he will still be in charge for the final five games of the season, starting with a match against the Crusaders tomorrow.
"Having sat down with John this week, all parties felt it was the right time to make a change," said Wakefield Chief Executive James Elston.
"We wish him well for the future and remain supportive for the rest of the season."
Kear joined the Wildcats in 2006 and made an immediate impression as he saved the club from relegation.
He had indicated earlier this week that he would be keen to stay on at the club, after they were granted a new Super League licence due to the Crusaders' decision to withdraw from the league from 2012.
