British and Irish Lions captain Sam Warburton fit to face Queensland Reds

British and Irish Lions captain Sam Warburton will make his first appearance in the tour against the Queensland Reds after recovering from a knee injury

British and Irish Lions head coach Warren Gatland has named captain Sam Warburton in his side to face the Queensland Reds on Saturday following a bout of injury.

The Wales international has missed both warm-up fixtures, including a 69-17 victory over Western Force on Wednesday, due to a knee injury.

Along with Warburton, prop Gethin Jenkins will make his first appearance for the Lions since overcoming a calf problem, as well as lock Geoff Parling, prop Matt Stevens, hooker Tom Youngs and scrum-half Ben Youngs.

Dan Lydiate and Toby Faletau have kept their places in the back row for the Test this weekend.

Lions team to face Queensland Reds: Hogg, Cuthbert, Tuilagi, Davies, Bowe, Farrell, B Youngs, Jenkins, T Youngs, Stevens, Gray, Parling, Lydiate, Warburton, Faletau
