England prop Andrew Sheridan forced to retire due to neck injury

England prop Andrew Sheridan retires from rugby due to neck injury.

England prop Andrew Sheridan has been forced to retire from rugby due to a neck injury.

The 34-year-old will step away from the game immediately after he failed to recover from the neck problem, which he picked up while playing for Toulon last season.

The prop, who played twice for the British and Irish Lions, underwent surgery to correct the issue back in February, but has not returned to a level of fitness required to compete.

A statement from James Grant Sports Management said: "Andrew will now focus on completing his qualifications in Wine before looking to forge a new career in the trade."

Sheridan earned 40 England caps.
