Wales coach Shaun Edwards is poised to join London Irish as the club's new defence coach following Toby Booth's departure.
The 45-year-old, who has not coached at club level since November last year, is due to continue his work with the Welsh national team alongside his role with the Aviva Premiership side.
"He's a great asset for us and I'm personally excited about working with him," London Irish director of rugby Brian Smith told BBC Radio Berkshire.
The Exiles finished seventh in the league this season.
