Ospreys wing Eli Walker has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after undergoing back surgery on Tuesday.
The 20-year-old suffered the injury while training with the Wales squad during the Six Nations, with the injury expected to keep him out of his country's tour of Japan in the summer.
"Eli hasn't shown any improvement following conservative treatment of his back issue," said Ospreys head physiotherapist Chris Towers.
"So having taking expert advice he underwent an operation to correct the problem on Tuesday. Experience of dealing with similar issues suggests that he will be out of action for around 10 to 12 weeks."
Walker has scored five tries in 13 appearances for his country.
