Saracens have given their Heineken Cup qualification hopes a boost with a hard-earned 31-26 Pool Five win against Ospreys at Wembley Stadium.
In an explosive first half, the hosts took an early lead when Rhys Gill went under the posts after good work at the lineout. Owen Farrell comfortably kicked the extras.
Daniel Biggar got the Ospreys on the board with a long-range penalty five minutes later, before Farrell stretched Sarries' lead to 10-3 with a kick of his own.
Tommy Bowe touched down two minutes after to swing the tie the visitors' way, with Biggar making the conversion.
However, Craig Joubert broke free minutes later to give the home side the initiative once more. Farrell again successfully kicked over.
Another penalty for Farrell on the stroke of half time gave the hosts a 23-13 lead at the break.
In a less frenetic second period, Biggar reduced Ospreys' deficit two minutes after the restart with a penalty before Chris Wyles extended Saracens' advantage when he scored a try. Despite his best efforts, Farrell was wayward with his conversion.
Ashley Beck's try and Biggar's conversion just before the hour looked to have given the Welsh side the momentum, but Farrell's kick on 73 minutes opened up a seven-point lead to make the score 31-23.
A nervy finale was set up after Biggar scored another penalty with five minutes to play.
