South Africa flanker Deon Stegmann could be out of action for up to four weeks after breaking his cheekbone on Friday.
The 25-year-old received a blow to the face in the second half of The Blue Bulls’ 16-12 Currie Cup victory over the Pumas.
The two-time Super 14 title-winner will undergo surgery on Monday, and it is thought he will need up to four weeks to recover.
Stegmann was released from the Boks’ Tri-Nations squad for domestic duty ahead of their clash with Australia on Saturday.
