Leigh Halfpenny suffers injury blow on Toulon return

A report claims that Leigh Halfpenny's latest shoulder injury is not likely to see him undergo surgery, although he is a major doubt for Toulon's meeting with Leintster.

Toulon star Leigh Halfpenny is said to be a major doubt for next weekend's European Rugby Champions Cup semi-final meeting against Leinster as a result of an injury sustained against Grenoble.

The Wales international was forced off at half time in his side's eventual 35-24 victory, having reportedly suffered a minor dislocation of his right shoulder.

It is a cruel blow for Halfpenny, who has just returned to action following a serious concussion sustained during the Six Nations earlier this year, and according to reports in France he is now unlikely to feature in next Sunday's crucial showdown.

Halfpenny also missed Wales's tour of South Africa last summer due to an identical injury problem, although this latest setback is not expected to see him undergo surgery.
