Shaun Edwards bemoans 'sloppy' Wales

Wales assistant coach Shaun Edwards hits out at the team's sluggish performance during their 38-16 defeat to South Africa.

Wales assistant coach Shaun Edwards has blasted the team's sluggish performance during their defeat to South Africa in Durban.

The tourists were comfortably beaten 38-16 on Saturday to go 1-0 down in the two-Test series.

While admitting that Wales fell short of their usual standards, Edwards is hoping for an improvement when they return to action next weekend.

"In the first half of the first match of a series, we have struggled to get up to pace, intensity and the speed of the game," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

"It also happened in Australia in 2012 and it has happened again in the first Test here. Hopefully we can give a better account of ourselves next week."

Wales play their final Test against South Africa next Saturday in Nelspruit.
