David Luckman delighted with "special" victory at Commonwealth Games

David Luckman admits that singles success in the full-bore rifle Queen's Prize has been a long time coming for him.

David Luckman has admitted that victory in the individual full-bore rifle Queen's Prize event at the Commonwealth Games has been his target for a long time.

The 38-year-old added singles gold to the success he enjoyed in the pairs with Parag Patel, who claimed bronze on Tuesday, and he was overjoyed with the win.

"That was as special as it gets," Luckman told reporters. "I've been looking to do this for a very, very long time.

"Parag and I were obviously looking to come here together and win the pairs, which we managed to do, but for both of us to be on the podium is really good."

Jim Paton of Canada split the two English shooters on the podium.
