Ding Junhui blows chance to make 147 after Crucible gaffe

A loss of concentration at The Crucible proves costly for Ding Junhui, as he misses out on the chance to make a 147 in a comical fashion.

World number three Ding Junhui has progressed through to the second round of the World Snooker Championship, having beaten Mark Davis 10-7 this afternoon.

The 28-year-old blew the chance to make a Crucible maximum, though, and the £30,000 prize which accompanies it, by failing to set himself up for the black when on a break of 96.

A temporary loss of concentration saw Ding screw back when potting the 12th red to position himself on the blue, which proved costly as he then failed to sink the black needed to keep himself on track for the historic feat.

Having seen the funny side of things, the Chinese pro did not ponder on what could have been by successfully overcoming the challenge of Davis to set up a meeting with John Higgins.
