BOA boss: 'Ye Shiwen not a drugs cheat'

The chairman of the British Olympic Association leaps to the defence of Chinese swimmer Ye Shiwen following doping allegations from the United States.

The chairman of the British Olympic Association (BOA) has leaped to the defence of Chinese swimmer Ye Shiwen following doping allegations from the United States.

Lord Colin Moynihan refuted drugs claims from US coach John Leonard, declaring that Ye has been confirmed as "clean" the by World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

"She's been through WADA's programme and she's clean. That's the end of the story. Ye Shiwen deserves recognition for her talent," he said.

Ye smashed the world record in the women's 400m individual medley with a world record time of 4:28.43, before setting a new Olympic record in the 200m individual medley semi-finals.

The 16-year-old is back in action this evening in the women's 200m individual medley final.
