Team England's Ben Proud wins gold in 50m butterfly

Ben Proud wins Team England's first swimming gold medal in the 50m butterfly as he breaks the Commonwealth Games record to claim the crown.

Ben Proud has won Team England's first swimming gold medal in the 50m butterfly in Glasgow by breaking the Commonwealth Games record.

The 19-year-old won the race with a time of 22.93s to power ahead of the field to take the medal at the Tollcross Swimming Centre.

South Africa duo Ronald Schoeman and Chad le Clos took silver and bronze respectively, while England's Adam Barrett finished in fourth place with a time of 23.43s.

Proud's gold medal was England's ninth of the Games.
