James Wilby aims for podium finish at British Championships

GB swimmer James Wilby is hopeful of claiming a podium finish at the British Championships later this month.

James Wilby is hopeful that he can get on the podium at the British Championships later this month in order to build on last year's progress.

The 21-year-old, who is in his second year at Loughborough University, reached the final of the 100m and 200m breaststroke at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014.

Wilby also helped England claim gold in the Games by competing in the heat of the 4x100m medley.

"It is about moving on from that in my second year and the aim for this year's British Championships is for a podium finish after coming so close last year," Wilby told Sportsbeat.

"To realistically get a spot on the World Championships team I will need to finish first or second at the British Championships, but I want a podium at least."

The Championships will be held at the Aquatics Centre in London from April 14.
