Portugal have clinched their first gold medal of the European Games with victory in the men's team table tennis.
It looked like a comfortable victory would be secured when Tiago Apolina beat Adrien Mattenet 3-0, before Marcos Freitas edged out Simon Gauzy 3-2 in the second match of the final.
France managed to reduce the deficit by winning game three when Gauzy and Emmanuel Lebesson earned a 3-2 victory over Apolina and Joao Geraldo in the doubles clash.
However, Geraldo bounced back from the setback to beat Mattenet 3-0 as Portugal secured the gold with a match to spare in the final.
After losing to Portugal in yesterday's semi-final, Austria won bronze with a 3-0 overall victory against Germany, who missed out on a place in the final after being beaten by France on Sunday.
