Former tennis player Jennifer Capriati has admitted that she is "extremely angry and disappointed" in Maria Sharapova after the Russian failed a drug test.
The five-time Grand Slam champion revealed on Monday that she tested positive for meldonium after losing to Serena Williams in the Australian Open in January.
Sharapova claimed that for the last 10 years she has been taking the prescribed medicine, which was added to the World Anti-Doping Agency's list of banned performance-enhancing drugs at the beginning of 2016.
Capriati, who won three Grand Slams and an Olympic gold medal before a back injury ended her career in 2004, gave her reaction on Twitter.
The American wrote: "I had to lose my career and never opted to cheat no matter what. I had to throw in the towel and suffer.
"i didn't have the high priced team of drs (sic) that found a way for me to cheat and get around the system and wait for science to catch up."
Sharapova will be provisionally suspended by the International Tennis Federation from March 12, and is facing a four-year ban.
