Novak Djokovic has ruled himself out of the China Open in order to recover from a back injury.
The world number one, who was crowned the US Open champion earlier this month, has struggled to overcome the back problem which he suffered ahead of the American competition.
"I won't risk the worsening of the injury and that's why it is hard to predict for how long I will rest," ESPN quotes Djokovic as saying.
The Serbian could be back to compete in the Shanghai Masters next month, while world number three Roger Federer has withdrawn from the competition in order to rest.
