Roger Federer is one game away from the Dubai Tennis Championships final following his straight-sets win over Nikolay Davydenko.

Roger Federer will fight for a place in the Dubai Tennis Championships final following his quarter-final 6-2 6-2 victory over Nikolay Davydenko.

Both opponents held their opening service games, but it was the Swiss pro who took the first advantage by breaking his French rival with sweeping forehands and strong returns across the court.

Despite looking composed in the early stages of the clash, Davydenko began to slip while Federer found his stride to claim another vital break to go on and clinch the opening set.

The world number two ended up securing the victory comfortably by snatching another early break, which put him on course to claiming a place in the semi-finals.
