Andy Murray confident against big servers

World number three Andy Murray believes that his strength on the return is the main reason why he has success against big-serving opponents.

Andy Murray has claimed that his strength on the back-foot is the main reason why he enjoys success against big-serving opponents.

Murray has a good record against big servers and will need another strong showing to overcome Kevin Anderson in the fourth round of the US Open on Monday.

When questioned on his record, Murray said that his strong return is the reason that he has been able to stifle a number of the powerful servers on tour.

"Yeah, they're always tricky matches. But getting a lot of returns in play is something that throughout most of my career I've been good at. Often the big servers, they come into matches used to getting a lot of free points. It changes their mindset a little bit in the way they play the match and play the points," Murray told reporters.

"That's why I think I've had good success against them in the past. But they're always tough matches because you don't get loads of opportunities normally."

Murray has won five of his previous six meetings with Anderson, including a 6-3 6-4 victory at Queen's earlier this year.
