The United States men's curling team have picked up their first win of the Sochi Winter Olympics 2014, with a 9-5 victory against Denmark on Wednesday.

The Danish team won the hammer and started strongly to take three points from the first end, but John Shuster's side regrouped to get themselves back in the match.

USA achieved four winning ends in a row to overturn the deficit by the end of five, and at that point they were 6-3 up.

They added one more point after eight before Denmark added two in the ninth to set up a nervy final end, but the US held out to take two more points and their first win in three attempts.
