Aston Villa confirm departures of backroom trio

Aston Villa announce the departures of Steve Clarke, Kevin Bond and Massimo Battara from the club's coaching staff.

Aston Villa have announced the departures of three members of the backroom team following the appointment of Steve Bruce as manager.

Assistant boss Steve Clarke, first-team coach Kevin Bond and goalkeeping coach Massimo Battara have all left their positions at Villa Park.

The trio moved to the Midlands outfit in the summer as part of Roberto Di Matteo's backroom staff, but following the manager's sacking, wholesale changes have been made.

A statement from Villa read: "The club would like to wish them well for the future and to thank all three for their effort, dedication and professionalism."

Meanwhile, Stephen Clemence, who worked alongside Bruce at Hull City, has been appointed as first-team coach.
