Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Dale Stephens aiming for England call

Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Dale Stephens admits that he has ambitions to break into the England squad during his career.

Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Dale Stephens has said that he feels that he has reached the 'peak of his career' after establishing himself as a top-flight player.

Stephens began his career with Bury and has had loan spells in non-league football, but the Seagulls player has been an ever-present in the club's first campaign in the Premier League.

The 28-year-old has played a key role in Brighton's recent good form, and he admits that he is looking to earn international recognition with England.

Stephens told The Sun: "It is everybody's ambition. I feel I am at the peak of my career, playing and competing at this level. That is all I can do and, if it was to come around, it would be amazing.

"Lewis Dunk is still young enough and playing to a good standard. I wouldn't be too surprised if he was to creep in there."

On Sunday, Stephens featured as Brighton registered a 2-1 win over Arsenal at the Amex Stadium.
