England to face Nigeria, Costa Rica in June ahead of World Cup

England are to face Nigeria at Wembley Stadium on June 2 and Costa Rica at Elland Road four days later, before setting off for the 2018 World Cup.

England have confirmed the dates for their final home friendlies before setting off for the World Cup finals.

The Three Lions, who qualified for Russia 2018 with a game to spare, are to face Nigeria at Wembley Stadium on June 2 and Costa Rica at Elland Road five days later.

Football Association chiefs also announced that the senior squad will base themselves at the National Football Centre at St George's Park in the days leading up to the tournament, with their campaign due to get underway against Tunisia on June 18.

Gareth Southgate's men will then travel to their Russian training camp just outside St Petersburg, ahead of games against Tunisia, Panama and Belgium.

Costa Rica are well known to England, having ousted the 1966 tournament winners for a place in the knockout stages of the most recent World Cup four years ago.
