Mohamed Salah becomes the first player in Premier League history to score or assist in 12 consecutive matches twice after finding the net against West Ham United.

Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah broke another record during his side's 3-1 victory over West Ham United on Sunday afternoon in the Premier League.

Jurgen Klopp's men extended their winning run in all competitions to six matches with the success against the Hammers, with the Egyptian opening the scoring for the hosts.

Salah's goal came in the first 20 minutes of the contest when Luis Diaz delivered into the box, with the 31-year-old taking control of the ball and bursting towards net.

The winger's progress was halted by West Ham's Nayef Aguerd, who brought down the Liverpool man, giving Klopp's side the chance to go ahead from 12 yards in the early stages.

Making no mistake with his finish, Salah sent Hammers' goalkeeper Alphonse Areola the wrong way from the penalty spot to give Liverpool the advantage after 16 minutes.

In making the net ripple, the former Chelsea man became the first player in the Premier League history to score or assist in 12 consecutive games twice.

Salah first achieved the feat between August and December 2021, with the Merseysiders finishing the 2021-22 campaign in second, one point behind champions Manchester City.

This time around, the Egyptian has recorded 12 successive goal contributions across separate campaigns, with the first of this present run being a penalty in the 4-3 win over Tottenham Hotspur on April 30.

Liverpool are unbeaten in those 12 matches - winning nine and drawing three - with the Reds currently six matches without defeat at the start of the 2023-24 term.

Salah has already smashed a number of Premier League records, surpassing Didier Drogba's 104 goals to become the all-time top-scoring African player in the English top flight.

After Salah netted from the spot against West Ham, Jarrod Bowen restored parity for the visitors late in the first half, however strikes from Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota made sure that Klopp's charges earned all three points.

Since a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea at the start of the season, Liverpool have enjoyed a six-match winning streak which includes a 3-1 success against Austrian outfit LASK during their opening game of the Europa League on Thursday.

The Reds currently sit second in the Premier League standings after collecting 16 points from their first six contests, lying just two points behind Man City who still have their 100% record intact.

Salah will be looking to extend scoring run in the league to 13 matches when Liverpool travel to North London to face Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
