Roy Hodgson shoots down rumours of Danny Ings potential move to Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson shoots down rumours that he was preparing to make a move for Liverpool striker Danny Ings

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has shot down rumours that he was preparing to make a move for Liverpool striker Danny Ings.

Ings, who moved to Liverpool from Burnley in 2015, has recovered from a long-term knee injury and is back training with the Reds as well as featuring for their Under-23s.

The 25-year-old looks unlikely to break into Jurgen Klopp's side, however, with Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, and Roberto Firmino all in fantastic form.

Though Palace may look to reinforce their strike force in January, with injury-prone forwards Christian Benteke and Connor Wickham currently their only real options, Hodgson has insisted that he is not interested in a move for Ings, despite his admiration for the player.

"We haven't talked about Danny Ings coming here on loan with anybody," the ex-England boss told reporters.

"I like Danny Ings of course, but I like lots of players. We have absolutely no idea about his situation, I don't know how well he has recovered from his injury.

"At the moment we are nowhere near that level of discussion with either Danny Ings or anybody else."

The Eagles, who have scored just eight goals in the Premier League this season making them the league's lowest scorers, face Bournemouth on Saturday.
