Southampton head coach Mauricio Pellegrino remains quiet on the future of Virgil van Dijk, despite the defender failing to feature against Huddersfield Town.

Southampton manager Mauricio Pellegrino has said that he prefers to focus his attention on the club's upcoming games rather than discuss the future of Virgil van Dijk.

On Saturday afternoon, Southampton were held to a 1-1 draw with Huddersfield Town, but the main talking point was the absence of Van Dijk who continues to be linked with a move away from the club.

Van Dijk has now not featured for two successive games, but Pellegrino would not elaborate on the omission of the Dutch international.

The 46-year-old told Sky Sports News: "We know around Virgil there is a lot of speculation about him.

"We have to wait and see what will happen. I can't control this but we have to think of our games."

Van Dijk has made 12 appearances in the Premier League this season, despite handing in a transfer request during the summer.
