Liverpool's Brendan Rodgers confirms talks to cut short Divock Origi's loan

Brendan Rodgers confirms that Liverpool are in talks with Lille about possibly cutting short Divock Origi's loan deal at the Ligue 1 club.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that the club have held talks about possibly bringing Divock Origi to Anfield prior to his arranged summer move.

Widespread reports have claimed that the Premier League outfit have been trying to cut short Origi's loan deal at Lille in order to improve the Reds' attacking threat.

The Belgium international signed for Liverpool for around £10m last summer from Lille, but was immediately loaned back to the Ligue 1 side for the 2014-15 season.

In today's press conference, Rodgers said: "He's a player that will definitely be here next summer. Whether he'll be here or not in January is something that there has been discussion [about], but there's nothing to report on."

The Merseyside club are yet to recruit any new players so far this month.
