Half-Time Report: West Bromwich Albion holding Manchester United

West Bromwich Albion are holding Manchester United at Old Trafford following a goalless first half in their Premier League clash.

West Bromwich Albion have headed into half time level with Manchester United at Old Trafford despite the home side dominating possession in the opening 45 minutes.

The home side dictated the action in the early stages of the match, but West Brom had numbers back to stop Louis van Gaal's side getting on the board in the opening minutes, with Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata both struggling to get crosses in from out wide.

Bastian Schweinsteiger managed to deliver the ball in from the opposite flank, but Jonny Evans was there to clear the danger against his old club, while a Wayne Rooney effort from a loose ball went wide.

Rooney set up a better opportunity moments later as he put a through-ball in for Mata, but his curling finish was just wide of the bottom corner.

The hosts continued to dominate possession, with chances few and far between, as Mata saw his cross intended for Lingard cleared, while another run from Rooney failed to force a save from Boaz Myhill.

West Brom finally managed to get down the other end shortly before half time, but Chris Smalling was able to force Salomon Rondon's effort behind for a corner.

Myhill was tested just before half time as a Rooney free kick fell for Anthony Martial, but his strike on the turn was a comfortable save for the keeper.
