Naldo strike sinks Borussia Dortmund

Goals from Daniel Caligiuri and Naldo give Wolfsburg a 2-1 win over Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga.

Wolfsburg closed in on second place in the Bundesliga with a 2-1 win over Borussia Dortmund in what was a rehearsal for the German Cup final.

The home side got off to the dream start as Daniel Caligiuri collected Kevin De Bruyne's pass and calmly finished from inside the area to put the hosts ahead inside 60 seconds.

It was the fourth time this season that Jurgen Klopp's side had conceded a goal inside the opening minute, but they did not have to wait long to draw level.

Just 10 minutes later, Wolfsburg goalkeeper Diego Benaglio brought Kevin Kampl down in the box, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored from the resulting penalty.

Bas Dost and Henrik Mkhitaryan traded chances as the half wore on, before Naldo spurned a good chance to restore his side's lead, heading Ricardo Rodriguez's cross straight at Mitchell Langerak.

Naldo made amends for his earlier profligacy when he fired home with his left foot following a Wolfsburg corner four minutes after the restart.

The Brazilian defender then sent a speculative 35-yard strike inches wide of Langerak's goal as the hosts stepped up the pressure.

Aubameyang saw his header from Marcel Schmelzer's cross saved by Benaglio, before Ivan Perisic spurned a late chance to make sure of the win for Wolfsburg.

However, they held on to consolidate second place with just one game of the Bundesliga season remaining.
