Stuart Hogg says that he can play without fear against the Barbarians due to being selected ahead of favourites Leigh Halfpenny and Rob Kearney.

Full-back Stuart Hogg has insisted that he has "nothing to lose" ahead of the British and Irish Lions tour opener against the Barbarians on Saturday.

The Scotland international is one of three playing in his position to have been selected by Warren Gatland for the tour, with Six Nations star player Leigh Halfpenny and Rob Kearney also in the squad.

However, Hogg has been named in the starting XV for the match in Hong Kong this weekend, and he believes that he can play without fear after being selected ahead of the favourites.

"I've got nothing to lose, to be honest," Hogg told Sky Sports News.

"Everybody is expecting Leigh to be the starting [Test team] number 15, and I will push him all the way to get that starting spot.

"But at the end of the day it's good for me to have guys like that you can learn off. Rob Kearney as well, learning how they play 15, adapting to how they play and hopefully learning a lot from them."

Hogg, who is making his Lions debut, is the youngest player on the tour.
