Cleveland Browns head coach Rob Chudzinski has told reporters that Trent Richardson will play against the Detroit Lions later this week.
The running back missed the AFC North side's win over the St Louis Rams last week, and has been kept out of recent practices after sustaining a shin injury.
The Plain Dealer reports that Chudzinski will play the 22-year-old in "a couple of series" against the Lions in their pre-season game on Thursday.
Richardson rushed for 950 yards and scored 11 touchdowns for the Browns during his rookie season.
