New Denver Broncos signing Emmanuel Sanders has denied that there was an agreement in principle with the Kansas City Chiefs before he opted to join his new side.
The player's agent Steve Weinberg was reportedly talking to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as well, but Sanders said that although a deal was close between him and the Chiefs, there was never a commitment to sign.
"That entire situation is a business ordeal that some people are turning into a personal matter," NFL.com quotes Sanders as saying. "Situations like that happen all the time over the National Football League.
"There was no handshake. There was no kind of agreement in terms of - you know - we were close to a deal, but it wasn't anything official just yet."
Sanders played for the Pittsburgh Steelers for four seasons before joining the Broncos.
