Calvin Johnson: 'Running game is huge for Detroit Lions'

Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson believes that the team's running backs will have a huge role to play this season.

Calvin Johnson has said that the Detroit Lions' running game will make a "huge" contribution to the team this season.

The NFC North side signed former Miami Dolphins running back Reggie Bush during the off-season, while Joique Bell is expected to play an increased role with the side in 2013.

The wide receiver told the team's website: "This year 1-0, we have a different team this year. Having that running game and the depth that we have at running back is huge.

"We have four really good backs that could come in and start any day. With the explosiveness of Reggie and then Joique coming in and breaking tackles, it seems like we can do so much on offense without even talking about the receivers we have.

"When we are moving the ball with the run game at four or five yards a pop, everyone was blocking like crazy, and you get the big one here and there, it's hard to stop us."

The Lions play the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
