Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Sean Smith has been suspended for three games after violating the league's substance-abuse policy.
The 28-year-old pleaded guilty in April to a DUI charge in Kansas City, and has been given two years' probation.
The NFL's substance-abuse policy calls for a two-game suspension for a first offence, but also allows for increased discipline for aggravating circumstances.
That includes for damaging property, with Smith pulled over by police after his car had struck and broken a light pole.
