New York Jets coach Rex Ryan has refused to confirm who will start Saturday night's pre-season match against the Jacksonville Jaguars at quarterback.
Both Mark Sanchez and Geno Smith are currently competing for the jersey, with the former having been named in the starting lineup for the opening pre-season match against the Detroit Lions on Friday.
Smith is thought to be the favourite to start against the Jaguars as Ryan looks to operate a rotation policy, but the rookie has picked up a slight injury which could force Ryan to change his plans.
"There could be some factors that change things," Ryan said.
"I'm not going to get into the specifics, but obviously there could be some factors that change the original thought. We'll see as we get closer."
Despite his injury, Geno Smith took part in training yesterday and has vowed to play through the pain if needs be.
