Ryan Fitzpatrick ready to lead Tennessee Titans offense

Ryan Fitzpatrick says that his communication with the rest of the Tennessee Titans offensive unit must step up now that he is the starting quarterback going forward.

Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick has said that he is prepared for the challenge of becoming the team's starting option.

Fitzpatrick will lead the Titans offense for the remainder of the campaign following an injury to first-choice Jake Locker.

After replacing Locker during Sunday's defeat to the Jacksonville Jaguars, Fitzpatrick threw for 264 yards and two touchdowns, as well as rushing for the endzone himself, and claims that he wants to build on a strong performance.

He told Titans Online: "I'm no longer the guy that's holding the seat warm for Jake. With him being out the remainder of the year now, it's my gig and the communication has to step up that much more.

"I felt more comfortable going into the last game for whatever reason, being thrown into the fire like that than I have in my two previous starts when Jake was sidelined.

"I think getting the experience with the guys on the field and having a feel for them and them having a feel for me has helped us all and will do so going forward."

The Titans face the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday night in a crucial clash in the AFC South.
