England claim gold in men's 4x100m relay

England defeat Jamaica to take Commonwealth Games gold in the men's 4x100m relay race on the Gold Coast.

Team England have dethroned Jamaica to become champions of the men's 4x100m relay race at the Commonwealth Games.

The quartet of Reuben Arthur, Zharnel Hughes - controversially disqualified after winning the 200m on Thursday - Richard Kilty and Harry Aikines-Aryeetey stormed their way around the course, setting a new season's best as they crossed the line in a time of 38.13 seconds.

South Africa were next across the line, Akani Simbine running the final leg to set a new national record and personal best of 38.24 seconds.

Jamaica counted Usain Bolt among their team when they won gold in this event in Glasgow four years ago, and without him they had to settle for bronze and a time of 38.35 seconds.

Home nation Australia were unable to force their way onto the podium but did set a new season-best time of 38.58 seconds as they finished fourth.
